The published initial-infusion shortcut uses 0.2 with water volume in US quarts per pound of dry grain. The old 0.4/qt-per-pound combination overstated the grain-heating increment. For a 152°F target, 65°F grain and 1.5 US qt/lb, the unadjusted estimate is 163.6°F.

Metric ratios are divided by 2.086351… to obtain US qt/lb. The same dimensionless heating multiplier then works with Celsius temperatures. A Fahrenheit temperature difference is divided by 1.8; the 32-degree offset belongs only to absolute temperature conversion.

Make equipment effects explicit
No automatic 2°F allowance is added. Zero shows the unadjusted shortcut; enter a correction only when supported by calibration for the same system and process. This is not a detailed vessel heat-capacity model.

Check the model limits
The tool rejects estimates at or above the entered local boiling point, or at or below 0°C. The default 100°C / 212°F boiling point is a standard-pressure example. Verify your local value. Wet-mash step infusions, decoctions and direct heating need other models.
