Workflow

  1. Confirm the meal and guest preferences

Record who is coming, which dishes matter to the group and any private food or access requests. Agree whether guests will bring food and who will carve, serve and clean up.

  2. Specify the turkey and each side

Choose the actual turkey product, recipe and storage plan. Ask the supplier or use a tested recipe to relate purchase weight to your desired servings. Calculate packages for sides, rolls and dessert using their own confirmed yields.

  3. Allocate thawing, preparation and oven slots

Use the USDA turkey guide for the selected thawing method and cooking checks. Write a schedule from the desired serving time with refrigerator space, oven temperature, pan fit, preparation tasks and helpers. Leave room to adjust when thermometer checks show more cooking is needed.

  4. Price the complete meal

Record turkey, ingredients, beverages, supplies and any delivery charges using current prices. Total this meal in the event budget; if using a holiday season total, include the meal once rather than adding its expenses again.

  5. Check temperatures and handle leftovers

Check the turkey in the thickest breast and innermost thigh and wing; USDA specifies 165°F, also for stuffing. Use a named service helper, separate raw-food equipment and a prompt leftover storage plan. Note actual portions used for your next dinner.
