How it works

Chord from local blade solidity

Calculate blade chord at an actual radial station from an entered local annular solidity and whole blade count. Local solidity is a design input, not derived from TSR by a universal rule.

Local solidity = blade count × chord /(2π × station radius); chord = local solidity ×2πr / blade count.

Blade-section chord for a normal-load target

Solve a local chord from a stated per-blade normal force per unit span, relative flow speed and actual airfoil coefficients. Report the corresponding tangential load and geometric twist from explicitly supplied angles.

Cn = Cl cosφ + Cd sinφ; normal N/m = 0.5ρVrel² × chord × Cn; twist = inflow angle − target angle of attack − collective pitch.
