How it works

Plan from your rate

Work hours equal remaining words divided by effective words per hour. Each pass needs its own measured or chosen rate; the pass label adds no multiplier.

Measure a representative sample

Sample words multiplied by 60 and divided by sample minutes gives words per hour. Enter the words still to edit separately; the tool does not automatically subtract the sample.

Allocate work sessions

Divide work hours by your available hours per session and round the count up. The last session uses only the remaining allowance. These sessions do not determine calendar dates.

Example Scenarios

600 words edited in 30 minutes gives 1,200 words/hour. At that pace, 12,000 remaining words require 10 hours.

Ten work hours fit into six 1.75-hour sessions, with 1.25 hours in the last session.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Reusing one pace for all passes

Time the actual type of work and update it as the draft changes.

Counting completed sample work twice

Enter only work still remaining in the remaining-word field.

Reading sessions as elapsed days

Schedule the sessions yourself and allow separately for research, rewrites and feedback waits.
