Reconcile entered disability policy benefits, other verified resources, offsets, taxes, essential expenses, and elimination-period resources without estimating premiums or recommending coverage.

Use this result well

Inputs that matter
Entered monthly essential expenses, exact policy benefit, other verified benefits, policy offsets, separately verified benefit taxes, elimination-period days, and liquid waiting-period resources
Output to expect
Gross and net entered monthly resources, monthly difference or amount above expenses, waiting-period expense scenario, and waiting-period difference
How it works
Reconciles only entered policy/cash-flow facts; no salary percentage, premium, claim eligibility, policy type, or recommended coverage amount is inferred
  • Verify disability definition, covered earnings, benefit cap/percentage, offsets, taxes, elimination/benefit periods, residual or partial disability, exclusions, renewability, riders, and employer-plan portability.
  • Coordinate Social Security, workers’ compensation, leave, emergency resources, return-to-work rules, underwriting, affordability, insurer/producer licensing, state rules, and professional tax/legal advice separately.

Choose your path

Built around the job you need to finish

Reconcile exact entered disability benefit terms and waiting-period resources with an entered essential-expense budget without recommending coverage or estimating a premium.

Employee reviewing a group disability certificate

Translate exact benefit, cap, offsets, taxes, and waiting period into a personal cash-flow view.

Read the current certificate and benefit summary, enter only verified amounts, then compare net monthly resources with essential expenses.

Sees the entered difference without treating a salary percentage as a recommendation or claim promise.

Worker coordinating multiple benefit sources

Avoid double counting employer, private, Social Security, workers’ compensation, or other resources.

Verify timing and coordination externally, enter reliable non-duplicated benefits and exact policy offsets, then inspect the net resource line.

Can identify a cash-flow question while keeping eligibility and offsets under the governing documents.

Household preparing for an elimination period

Compare entered liquid resources with a transparent waiting-period expense scenario.

Copy the elimination-period days, document essential monthly expenses, enter liquid resources reserved for that period, and inspect any difference.

Does not interpret 30-day month arithmetic as the policy’s day-count or a guarantee of when benefits start.

How it works

Entered Monthly Resource Reconciliation

Add the entered policy benefit and other reliable non-duplicated benefits, then subtract entered offsets and separately verified taxes. Net resources cannot fall below zero.

Net entered resources = max(0, policy benefit + other benefits − offsets − taxes)

Expense Difference

Compare entered net monthly resources with a documented essential-expense budget. Report either a difference not covered or resources above expenses, never a recommendation.

Difference = max(0, essential expenses − net resources)

Waiting-Period Scenario

Convert entered elimination-period days to a transparent 30-day-month expense scenario and subtract only entered liquid resources reserved for that period. Policy day counting and benefit eligibility remain external.

Waiting-period difference = max(0, expenses × days ÷ 30 − waiting resources)

FAQ

A salary percentage alone does not capture the policy definition, covered earnings, cap, offsets, taxes, elimination period, benefit period, or actual household expenses. Enter the exact policy and cash-flow facts instead.

It depends. IRS Publication 525 explains that federal treatment can depend on who paid premiums and whether employee payments were after-tax. Enter a separately verified monthly tax amount rather than assuming zero or a fixed rate.

It is a policy waiting period before benefits may begin. This worksheet uses entered days divided by 30 only for a transparent expense scenario; confirm the actual day-count and eligibility rules in the policy.

No. It is only the difference between entered essential expenses and entered net resources. It does not select a benefit, policy, rider, insurer, or premium.

Verify disability definition, covered earnings, caps, offsets, residual or partial disability, taxes, elimination and benefit periods, exclusions, preexisting-condition terms, renewability, riders, portability, underwriting, premium, licensing, and state rules.
