How it works

Use supplied bounds

At least one lower or upper limit is required. The arithmetic treats each bound as inclusive; apply your protocol’s actual acceptance rule separately.

Compare interval endpoints

When an uncertainty bound is supplied, subtract it from the reading and add it to the reading. Compare both endpoints with the entered limits. Blank uncertainty is reported as not supplied.

Interval = reading ± supplied uncertainty

Keep measurement quality separate

Use a suitable calibrated meter and the prescribed sampling method. Display resolution alone does not establish accuracy, and a numerical comparison cannot validate a whole food process.

Taking the example limit as a food target

Supply the limit from the applicable measurement protocol. The example demonstrates comparison arithmetic only.

Interpreting within bounds as food safety approval

The status describes only the entered numbers. Sampling, instrumentation, recipe and processing requirements must be evaluated separately.
