How it works

Installed project quote

Build an itemized installed-project cash budget. Include equipment, labor, site work and fees once, separate immediate discounts from reimbursements that arrive later, and compare cash needed at payment with available funds.

Net quoted cost = itemized charges − immediate discount; cash at payment = net quote + deposits + chosen contingency; later net outlay = cash at payment − confirmed later reimbursement.

Compare lifetime project costs

Compare two options over the same 1–50-year horizon using initial cost, level annual running costs, one future cost event per option and end-of-horizon residual values. Costs occur at year end; initial costs occur now. The chosen discount rate and costs must share a real or nominal basis.

Present cost = upfront + Σ annual cost/(1 + discount)^year + event cost/(1 + discount)^event year − residual/(1 + discount)^horizon.

Material coverage and packs

Use measured coverage area, a chosen allowance and the exact product coverage per pack at the intended installed specification. Round up to whole packs and calculate material-only purchase cost. This does not choose insulation R-value, layer depth or an installation method.

Adjusted area = measured area × (1 + allowance); packs = ceiling(adjusted area ÷ coverage per pack); cost = whole packs × entered pack price.
