Deep frame: ~8 lb (~0.67 gal) when fully capped. Medium: ~6 lb. Shallow: ~4 lb. Capacity assumes standard Langstroth dimensions and fully cured honey.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Harvesting uncapped nectar frames

Nectar above 18.6% moisture will ferment. Wait for capping or use a refractometer. Uncapped frames reduce average yield quality, not just weight.

Counting brood chamber frames as harvestable honey

Honey in brood boxes belongs to the colony for brood rearing and winter stores. Harvest from supers only — frames below the queen excluder are colony reserves.
