Workflow

  1. Map zones and source requirements

    Draw beds, container groups, source points, slopes and access routes. Group plants with similar water needs and identify who can authorize work. Obtain local water-use and backflow requirements and arrange utility location before excavation.

  2. Match the supply and component ratings

    Record available flow under the intended operating conditions and pressure at appropriate test points. Select compatible pipe, filter, regulator, valves and emitters using the product charts. Sum emitter ratings for each simultaneously operated zone and confirm the complete hydraulic plan.

  3. Assemble and flush an accessible pilot zone

    Follow the selected system instructions for assembly, filtration, pressure control and flushing. Keep joints and controls accessible for inspection. Test a small zone before covering lines or extending the layout, checking leaks, drainage paths and correct valve operation.

  4. Record the installed system and revisit it

    Save the zone map, equipment instructions, measured rates and initial program. Observe wetting, runoff and plant response after irrigation and adjust one factor at a time. Set review triggers for weather changes, crop growth, repairs and freezing conditions.

Component selectionStandard

Emitter flow, available pressure, filtration and line configuration must be compatible. Follow product-specific limits and ask the water provider about required backflow protection.

Commissioning evidenceStandard

A timed emitter or catch-cup test checks observed delivery and sample uniformity. Keep timing, positions and operating conditions so repeat tests are comparable.

Water-use versus applicationStandard

Crop ET describes water use for the entered crop/reference assumptions. Rain, soil storage and delivery performance affect an irrigation plan.

  • One zone first

    A small accessible trial reveals layout or connection problems before they are buried.

  • Separate plant groups

    A controller program is easier to adjust when a zone has similar crop, soil and exposure conditions.

Safety Notes

  • Arrange local utility location before digging. Have required backflow and electrical work completed by qualified people.
  • Depressurize before opening fittings or filters and follow the component instructions. Keep water away from unsuitable electrical equipment.
