Prepare a snowkite wind-window lesson with site observations, agreed practice boundaries, instructor feedback and clear reasons to stop or reset.
Identify the intended trainer or snowkite and the skills the instructor expects before handling it. Use the equipment’s learning materials to discuss the downwind flying area and changes in pull. Treat a diagram as a teaching aid, not a map of safe positions.
With the kite secured, identify the observed wind direction, downwind obstacles, access routes and other people. Ask the instructor to set the practice area for the actual line length and site. Reassess after a direction change instead of moving the diagram around an unchanged launch position.
Record the observation time, location and instrument exposure. Keep reported average wind and gust information distinct; a single sheltered reading cannot describe the whole practice area. Use the observation log only for real measurements, entering M for unavailable quantities and retaining notes.
Agree the instructor’s signals, the supervised exercise and the response to a loss of control before launch. Confirm that the learner can reach and operate the actual safety controls as taught. Do not improvise a new release sequence from a generic wind-window explanation.
Follow the instructor’s trainer progression within the agreed area. Stop if the instructor, learner or partner cannot maintain the agreed control or communication. If the wind changes, secure the kite using the taught procedure and repeat the site briefing before another attempt.
Write down which positions and transitions were practiced, what required help and the instructor’s next exercise. Distinguish assisted practice from independent competence. Keep the record with the conditions so a later session does not assume identical wind or surface behavior.
