How it works

Normalize to UTC

Convert the source clock to minutes and subtract the entered source offset. The displayed UTC intermediate makes the sign convention auditable.

UTC minutes = source minutes − source offset minutes

Apply target offset and day shift

Add the target offset to the UTC intermediate, normalize the clock into 00:00–23:59 and retain whether the unwrapped total is on the previous, same or next calendar day.

Fixed offsets are not named zones

IANA updates named-zone data when political bodies change offsets, boundaries or daylight-saving rules. This worksheet never claims that an entered fixed offset belongs to a place on a date.
