Normalized low-band change = (low A − reference A) − (low B − reference B) A comparison of measured band levels. Distance alone cannot predict bass boost for an arbitrary microphone, pattern, source or filter. The reference band removes overall level change; it may also have its own distance or room response. Differences may include source changes, room reflections and position effects; the number does not isolate proximity effect causally.
