How it works

Range between compatible measured levels

Difference = higher level − lower level; mean-square ratio = 10^(difference/10); RMS amplitude ratio = 10^(difference/20) An explicit level span. This is not EBU loudness range (LRA), integrated LUFS, or an ideal quantizer signal-to-noise ratio. A large difference is not an audio quality grade. RMS meter offsets must match. A peak-to-noise or peak-to-RMS comparison has a different meaning.
