How it works

Round each uninterrupted run independently

Equal bay spacing is run length divided by the whole bay count. Split the layout at each corner, branch and gate. This upper-limit model does not determine the installed module of a fixed-width panel system.

Bays = ceil(centerline length ÷ reviewed maximum spacing); intermediate posts = bays − 1

Count each named physical endpoint once

Use the same ID only for the same physical post. Gate widths are measured separately between their post centers, with no intermediate posts. Crossings, overlapping lines and missing junctions are not detected from IDs.

Total layout posts = unique named endpoint IDs + sum(intermediate posts)

Reconcile the actual purchase scope

Assigned quantities across exact product lines must equal all layout posts. Review role compatibility separately. Each purchased pack is charged in full when a sourced price is present; an unpriced needed item keeps the total unknown.

Example Scenarios

With an independently reviewed maximum of 8 ft, 13 bays need 12 intermediate posts plus endpoints A and B: 14 posts. Equal spacing is about 7.692308 ft, not a recommended design spacing.

Run A–B is 100 ft and B–C is 48 ft, each with an illustrative 8 ft maximum. There are 17 intermediate posts and three unique endpoints, for 20 posts; B is not added twice.

An illustrative 14-post assignment with two usable posts in stock and five posts per sale pack needs three packs: 15 purchased posts and three surplus purchased posts. A sourced 100 USD pack price gives a 300 USD post-only purchase.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Adding corner posts to a count that already includes them

Use shared endpoint IDs and count each physical post once. Separate post product roles from the number of posts.

Treating packs, prices or concrete as universal

Use exact matching SKU assignments, actual sale packs and sourced optional prices. Foundations and other unentered installation costs remain outside this record.

FAQ

The 100 ft run needs ceil(100/8) = 13 bays. Its 12 intermediate posts plus two endpoints make 14. Flooring the bay count can exceed the entered maximum spacing.

Split runs at each shared physical post and give that endpoint one consistent ID. IDs are compared without case. A separate gate connects two endpoint IDs without interior posts; do not include its opening in either adjacent run.

No. Enter the applicable reviewed maximum from the exact system and site design. Post role, size, foundations, structural adequacy, terrain, permits and utility-location requirements need separate review. No universal depth or bags-per-post rule is supplied.

Not automatically. Actual installed post-center modules, gate offsets and cut constraints are product-specific. This equal-spacing model is not a panel cutting or installation plan.
