How it works

Outdoor lighting power and energy

Use actual whole-system input watts per fixture, including its driver on a consistent basis. Enter the number of fixtures and your chosen operating schedule and tariff. This estimates energy cost only; it does not calculate brightness, transformer VA, wiring ampacity or circuit compliance.

Input watts = fixtures × watts per fixture; energy kWh = watts × hours per day × days ÷ 1000; variable energy cost = kWh × tariff.

Lumens and matched efficacy

Calculate input power from a manufacturer’s stated light output and efficacy measured on the same basis. Do not combine bare-LED efficacy with complete-fixture lumens. A power result does not establish useful illuminance at a path or work surface.

Estimated watts = fixture lumens ÷ matching lumens per input watt × fixture count.
