How it works

Native Size at Entered Image PPI

With resampling off, fixed pixel dimensions divided by the entered image PPI give physical inches. Centimeters use the exact 2.54 cm per inch conversion.

Exact Target Fill Crop

The engine retains the largest source-pixel rectangle matching the target aspect ratio. It reports retained width/height and the percentage of source pixel area excluded by edge-to-edge fill.

Effective Target PPI and Boundary

Retained pixels divided by exact target inches give effective image PPI. Signed pixel differences compare the retained crop with the entered PPI target; they do not prescribe resampling or certify print quality.

Native size is only pixels divided by entered PPI. Decide acceptable detail, resampling, sharpening, substrate, viewing, and proof standards in the actual print workflow.
