How it works

Payload Construction

URL, mailto, and tel presets wrap the entered text; WiFi uses escaped WIFI fields; vCard 3.0 escapes backslashes, newlines, semicolons, and commas and omits blank optional phone/email lines.

Capacity and Rendering

The counter distinguishes numeric, QR alphanumeric, and UTF-8 byte modes, applies version-40 reference limits for the selected correction level, and also asks the QR library whether the current payload fits.

Encoding & Escaping

Only #RRGGBB colors are committed. Low contrast is warned, render requests are guarded against stale completion, and downloads remain disabled until the current canvas succeeds. PNG/JPEG/WebP logos are limited to 2 MB.

FAQ

It validates whether the QR library can encode the current payload, counts numeric/alphanumeric characters or UTF-8 bytes, validates hex colors, escapes vCard text, and validates WiFi fields. It does not verify destinations, identities, or connection success.

QR byte mode stores UTF-8 bytes, so an emoji or non-ASCII character can consume more than one byte. The displayed limit also depends on error correction and the library's actual encodability check.

No. The center logo is a raster overlay included in PNG, copied PNG, and print output. SVG export is disabled until the logo is removed so the file cannot silently differ from the preview.

Generation does not establish that a URL is safe, an email or phone is correct, a WiFi network is trustworthy, or a vCard identity is genuine. Review the payload and scan-test the final artifact before sharing.

Dark foreground on a light background is safest. The panel warns below 4.5:1 contrast. Higher correction can tolerate more damage but reduces capacity; logos still require scan-testing and are capped at 25% of the canvas width.
