Measure the files you need to protect, compare real storage plans, configure access, and verify independent backup restoration.
Use operating-system folder properties and provider storage reports to record what will be stored. Identify original files, shared work, application data and exclusions. Define how much recent work you can afford to lose and how quickly you need it back.
Compare the required space with usable plan capacity. Verify file-size limits, supported platforms, sharing permissions, version retention, deletion recovery and what happens when billing or ownership changes.
Collect the current prices for suitable plans. Enter billing periods, remaining introductory bills, monthly fees and required upfront purchases in the cost comparison. Use the same people or seats count.
Secure the account with supported MFA or passkeys and a recoverable recovery arrangement. Set explicit sharing permissions, choose the intended folders and allow the first transfer to finish. Configure the independent backup destination and schedule through its supported app, and confirm that initial backup completes separately from sync. Check representative files from another authorized device.
Restore representative files from the backup into a different folder and open them. Include an older version if that is part of the promised recovery path. Test offline access to files you intend to use without internet.
