Check scooter routes and equipment, compare ownership with real shared-ride prices, plan compatible charging, and keep a repeatable pre-ride checklist.
Identify the city, device class and intended streets or paths. Check the transport authority rules for permitted riding areas, age, speed, helmet and parking requirements, plus transit carriage and building storage policies. Plan a legal alternative for unsuitable routes or weather.
Check the device weight, folding latch, brakes, tires, lights and service support. Verify the exact model and its claimed electrical-system certification with the certifier; a battery or charger label alone does not establish whole-device certification. Check manufacturer recalls and battery condition.
Use Own or pay per ride. Count one-way rides, choose a holding period and enter device, gear, maintenance, energy and resale assumptions. Enter the shared operator’s actual unlock fee, charged minutes, rate and subscription. Test fewer rides and zero resale.
Use the charger supplied or specifically tested and approved for the device. Follow the manufacturer charging instructions, stay present while charging and unplug when complete. Keep the device away from escape routes and arrange appropriate service for battery damage or abnormal operation.
Use an appropriate, correctly fitted helmet. Check brakes, throttle, steering, latch, tires, lights and warning device before riding. Practice braking and turning in a permitted low-traffic area, stay alert to surfaces and other road users, and stop using a damaged device.
Record route rules, storage permissions and fallback travel. · Keep the exact model, certification claim, inspection results and service options. · Record the approved charger and battery model, storage arrangement and service contact. · Record defects, repairs, real ride receipts and the date of the next inspection.
Compare owned and shared total costs and the ride-count crossing under fixed period assumptions. · Revisit the ownership comparison after observing actual ride frequency and costs.
