Prepare for a First Job Search

Identify suitable entry roles, build truthful application materials, track real openings and prepare for interviews, offers and onboarding.

Workflow

  1. Define suitable work and verify openings

List skills, interests, location, hours and practical constraints. Use occupation profiles to learn about tasks and entry requirements, then inspect real postings. Verify the employer and application channel; record stated deadlines instead of assuming a universal recruiting season.

  2. Build materials from experience you can explain

Create a resume using relevant paid work, school projects, volunteering and other demonstrated experience. Describe your contribution and credentials accurately. Follow each application’s requested documents and format, and name the materials version in its tracker record.

  3. Create a manageable application routine

Allocate research, tailoring, practice and application time within a real week. Select opportunities that meet your criteria and record submissions and confirmations. Use the status and next-action filters to review progress without imposing an arbitrary quota or predicting offers.

  4. Prepare for interviews and assess actual offers

Research each role and rehearse examples from your experience. Confirm interview logistics and record questions about supervision, training and expectations. When an offer arrives, compare the written gross pay, hours, benefits, costs and conditions; ask about unclear terms.

  5. Confirm the start and review the first pay record

After deciding, verify the start date, location, equipment, reporting contact and required onboarding process. Share necessary identity or payment information only through the verified employer channel. Keep contract and benefit documents, then reconcile an actual pay statement and raise discrepancies with payroll.
