MPPT controller input and charging limits

Check absolute PV voltage/current, the tracking and startup envelope, the manufacturer's permitted array power and battery charging limits. Show output-current clipping separately from an input-limit failure.

Unrestricted battery current = available PV W × conversion efficiency / minimum charging battery V; delivered current is capped at the entered configured output-current limit.

PWM controller current and voltage limits

Compare a PWM controller using array current at the actual battery charging operating point, independent short-circuit current and voltage constraints. Do not convert PV nameplate watts into MPPT-style battery current.

Charging-current demand uses the entered PV operating current at battery charging voltage. It must fit both the controller's continuous charging rating and the battery's permitted charging current.
