Thread length consumed between warp beam and weaving fell line plus tail waste at back beam. Varies by loom depth.
Waste = Front beam to fell + Back beam waste (18–36 in total)Take-Up Allowance
Warp threads shorten as they pass over and under weft. Add 5–10% to woven length for take-up, more for thick weft or loose tension.
Take-up = Woven length × 0.05–0.10Finishing Shrinkage
Wet finishing shrinks most natural fiber cloth 5–15%. Calculate warp for pre-shrink dimensions.

Example Scenarios
72 in × 6 = 432 in woven. Plus 10% take-up, 30 in waste, 10% shrinkage → ~530 in (14.7 yards) warp length per end.
36 inch cloth + 8 inch fringe (both ends) + 27 in waste + take-up = 52+ inches warp length per end.
