How it works

Battery charge window and depth of discharge

Separate the charge consumed between two states of charge from the ending depth of discharge. Use a stated reference capacity on the same charge basis; a charge percentage does not by itself give accurate battery watt-hours.

Window % = start SOC − end SOC; used Ah = reference Ah × window/100; ending DoD = 100 − end SOC.

Battery discharge throughput log

Sum measured discharge amp-hours and express that throughput as equivalent full discharges on one fixed reference capacity. This describes use, not remaining battery life or a health diagnosis.

Equivalent full discharges = Σ measured discharged Ah / fixed reference Ah.

Use the exact equipment data, measurement point, operating conditions and units described in the selected mode. Record source documents, dates and unresolved conditions in Sources and assumptions. Built-in examples illustrate arithmetic; they are not manufacturer ratings or approved designs.
