How it works

Measure included wall faces

Use up to four disjoint wall scopes. Openings and specialty areas must not overlap, and their sum must be smaller than each gross face. Specialty units remain separate orders.

Included area = sum(length × height − openings − separately scheduled specialty area)

Choose the matching module

Nominal wall-face dimensions already include the joint module. In actual-face mode only, add the reviewed head joint to length and bed joint to height. Alternatively enter a complete reviewed whole-unit schedule.

Area-equivalent units = included wall area / (module length × module height)

Reconcile whole-unit purchases

There is no automatic 5% allowance. Document explicit extras and matching whole stock, then use the actual sale-pack multiple and optional sourced material quote.

Required = ceil(base units × (1 + allowance)) + spares; packs = ceil(max(0, required − usable stock) / units per pack)

Example Scenarios

An illustrative 40 × 8 ft wall with a nominal 16 × 8 in face contains 360 area-equivalent units before extras. An 8 in wall thickness does not change that face to 8 × 8 in.

An illustrative actual 15.625 × 7.625 in face plus 0.375 in head and bed joints has the same 16 × 8 in module. These numbers are not a specification for every product.

Deduct 16 ft² of openings and a disjoint 16 ft² specialty area from the 320 ft² example: 324 equivalent units. With 5% explicit extra and 2 spares, 343 units are required; 10 usable units and 90 per pack mean buying 4 packs.
