Use this result well

Inputs that matter
Focus, short-break, and long-break durations; sessions per block; sound, ambient, notification, and auto-start preferences
Output to expect
Target-end-time countdown, current cycle, locally stored daily focus time/session count/streak, and a transparent full-block duration breakdown
How it works
Countdown derives from the target timestamp so delayed background callbacks catch up; a block contains n focus sessions, n−1 short breaks, and one long break
  • The active page must remain open; browser and operating-system policies can suppress audio or notifications, so this is not a safety-critical alarm.
  • The classic 25/5 pattern and session counts are flexible planning aids, not productivity or health guarantees.

Choose your path

Built around the job you need to finish

Run a configurable focus/break cycle with a trustworthy browser countdown and understandable local session statistics.

Knowledge worker

Fit a complete focus block before a meeting.

Set focus/break durations and sessions, inspect the block total, and choose manual or automatic transitions.

Can reconcile n focus sessions, n−1 short breaks, one long break, and the total duration.

Student with access needs

Adapt pacing without being judged against a universal 25/5 target.

Choose shorter focus or longer breaks, optional ambient sound, and manual starts.

Uses the timer as a flexible aid and understands session count is not a productivity score.

Background-tab user

Receive a reliable noncritical completion cue while working elsewhere.

Start the timer, keep the page open, and optionally grant notification permission.

The countdown catches up from its target timestamp and the user knows closing the page or system policy can prevent an alert.

How it works

Target-End-Time Countdown

The displayed countdown is recalculated from Date.now() and the target end timestamp instead of assuming every interval callback fires exactly on time. Browser suspension and closing the page still limit delivery.

Local Calendar Tracking

A focus session is recorded only when its countdown completes. Daily focus seconds, completed sessions, and streak dates use the user's local calendar and remain in browser storage on this device.

Explicit Block Plan

A block contains the selected number of focus sessions, one fewer short breaks, and one long break. Auto-start is optional, and settings lock while running so a duration change cannot desynchronize the active countdown.

Example Scenarios

A programmer chooses a 50/10 pattern, disables auto-start so each break is deliberate, and uses the block total to fit work before the next meeting.

A student shortens focus intervals and lengthens breaks to accommodate fatigue, uses ambient sound only if helpful, and treats the session count as a planning aid rather than a performance score.

A writer starts a session, moves to a document tab, and relies on target-end-time correction plus an optional notification while keeping the timer page open.

FAQ

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses focused 25-minute work intervals (called "pomodoros") separated by 5-minute short breaks. After completing four pomodoros, you take a longer 15-30 minute break.

Yes, you can adjust the work duration, short break, and long break lengths to suit your personal productivity rhythm. Some people prefer 50/10 or 45/15 splits.

While the page remains open, the timer compares against a target end time, so returning from a throttled background tab catches the countdown up. Closing or reloading the page ends the active countdown. Notifications require browser support, permission, and an open page; local statistics are not cloud synced.

There is no universal target. Use the session count to plan a block, then adjust for task difficulty, meetings, fatigue, disability or access needs, and the quality of the work produced. More completed intervals do not automatically mean better work.

It can play an in-page chime when sound is enabled. If the page is hidden, it can also send a browser notification after you grant permission. Browser, operating-system, focus-mode, and power settings can suppress alerts, so do not use this as a safety-critical alarm.

About Pomodoro Timer

Run focused work intervals with deliberate breaks, or customize the durations and sessions per block to match the task and your access needs. Daily counts stay on this device; the target end time corrects for delayed background-tab ticks while the page remains open.
