How it works

PV power at irradiance and cell temperature

Estimate instantaneous DC module power from nameplate rating, effective plane-of-array irradiance, cell temperature and the actual module power-temperature coefficient. Apply the entered DC loss once, then a constant inverter efficiency and AC power ceiling.

Pdc = nameplate W × irradiance / 1000 × [1 + coefficient/100 × (cell °C − 25)] × (1 − DC loss/100); Pac = min(Pdc × inverter efficiency, AC ceiling).

PV area and operating efficiency

Calculate instantaneous DC output from active panel area, irradiance and efficiency at those operating conditions. Keep area units explicit and avoid converting one irradiance measurement into assumed daily sun hours.

Pdc = area ft² × 0.09290304 × irradiance W/m² × operating efficiency/100.

PV energy from AC intervals

Integrate nonoverlapping measured or externally modeled AC power intervals. State whether the profile represents one day, a billing period or a year; the calculation does not infer missing daylight or weather.

AC energy = Σ interval average kW × interval hours.
