Apply only the selected rounding rule to each continuous scaled dimension, subtract the rounded image from the target canvas so positive values mean pad extent and negative values mean crop overflow, and compare the rounded dimensions with the independent record

How it works

Start from Reviewed Active-Image Geometry

Enter positive whole square-pixel dimensions copied from named records. Storage raster alone may not establish display geometry when sample aspect ratio, clean aperture, display matrix, orientation or prior cropping changes the active image. Normalize and document those properties in the responsible inspection workflow before using this arithmetic.

Apply the Selected Conform Mode

Fit/Pad preserves the complete rectangular source within the canvas and can leave positive pad extent. Fill/Crop covers the canvas and can produce negative overflow that must be cropped. The worksheet reproduces the selected mode; it does not decide which visual tradeoff is acceptable.

Round, Sign and Compare Independently

Apply only the selected continuous, floor, nearest or ceiling rule to both scaled dimensions. Positive canvas difference means total available pad extent on that axis; negative means total crop overflow. Neither total chooses an edge split or anchor. Preserve signed comparison differences to locate source, mode or rounding mismatches.

Example Scenarios

A reviewed 1920×1080 square-pixel active image fitted into a 1080×1080 canvas uses scale 0.5625. Nearest rounding gives 1080×608, zero horizontal difference and +472 pixels of total vertical pad extent. The worksheet does not choose how that extent is split.

Using Fill/Crop with the same 1920×1080 source and 1080×1080 canvas uses scale 1 and gives 1920×1080, with −840 pixels of total horizontal crop overflow and zero vertical difference. An anchor or crop-edge allocation still requires visual review.

Enter an independent scaled width and height from a responsible application or worksheet. A nonzero signed comparison can identify a different active image, pixel-aspect normalization, conform mode or rounding rule; it does not prove which record is correct.
