How it works

Quote A unit cost

Divide Quote A's complete total cost by Quote A's positive whole-unit count.

Quote A unit cost = Quote A total ÷ Quote A units

Quote B unit cost

Apply the same arithmetic and cost scope to Quote B so differently sized orders can be compared.

Quote B unit cost = Quote B total ÷ Quote B units

Signed comparison

The signed B-minus-A difference shows direction; the absolute difference shows magnitude. The calculator does not extrapolate either quote to an unquoted volume.
