Currency Converter Calculator

Convert one amount with a manually entered, explicitly directed, dated, and sourced exchange rate without implying a live or executable quote.

Use this result well

Inputs that matter
Amount, distinct three-letter FROM/TO currency codes, manual target-per-source rate, rate as-of date and source/note
Output to expect
Converted target amount, explicit forward and inverse arithmetic, retained date and retained rate source
How it works
Multiplies the source amount by the manually entered “1 FROM = X TO” rate; it performs no network lookup and never labels the rate live or executable
  • Verify rate direction, observation date and source before calculating; a reciprocal-rate mistake can materially change the result.
  • Provider spreads, fees, card-network rules, taxes and settlement timing are excluded. Obtain an actual executable quote before transacting.

Choose your path

Built around the job you need to finish

Convert one amount with an explicitly directed, dated, and sourced manual exchange rate without presenting a live quote or inventing fee scenarios.

Traveler translating a documented budget rate

Record exactly which direction and date a rate uses.

Enter amount, FROM/TO codes, target-per-source rate, as-of date, and source note.

Gets reproducible arithmetic without mistaking it for a card settlement amount.

Bookkeeper checking a historical entry

Preserve the source and observation date.

Copy the documented accounting rate and retain its source label in the result.

Can audit the manual conversion later.

Buyer preparing a real transaction

Recognize spread, fee, and executable-rate differences.

Use the tool only for arithmetic, then obtain the provider’s actual quote and terms.

Does not transact from an information-only reference rate.

How it works

Explicit quote direction

The entered rate is always interpreted as target currency units per one source currency unit. Both three-letter currency codes remain visible.

1 FROM = X TO

Manual conversion

Multiply the source amount by the target-per-source rate. The reciprocal is shown only as inverse arithmetic, not as a second transaction quote.

Target amount = Source amount × Target-per-source rate

Date, source, and transaction boundary

The as-of date and source note are retained with the result. The tool fetches no live rate and excludes provider spread, fees, network rules, taxes, and settlement timing. ECB reference rates are themselves information-only and strongly discouraged for transaction use.

Example Scenarios

A traveler records a manual planning rate and its date without calling it current or executable.

Amount: 100 USDRate: 1 USD = 0.85 EURAs of: 2026-08-24

85.00 EUR

A bookkeeper retains the documented observation date and source label so the arithmetic can be audited later.

A buyer checks the manual arithmetic, then obtains the provider's executable quote including spread, fees, and settlement terms before paying.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Reversing the exchange-rate direction

Read the visible equation as 1 FROM = X TO. The calculator multiplies the FROM amount by X; swapping the codes requires the reciprocal.

Treating a reference or manual rate as executable

Keep the date and source, then obtain the actual provider quote. Spread, fees, taxes, and settlement differences are not estimated here.

FAQ

No. You supply the rate, date, and source or note. The result is only the arithmetic from those inputs.

It means one unit of the FROM currency equals X units of the TO currency. The calculator multiplies the entered FROM amount by X.

Three-letter codes make both sides of the quote explicit and reduce symbol ambiguity, such as the many currencies that use a dollar sign.

No. The result excludes provider spread, transfer or card fees, taxes, network rules, and settlement timing unless those effects are already reflected in your manual rate.

The ECB states that its reference rates are for information purposes only and strongly discourages using them for transactions. Obtain an executable provider quote before acting.
