Prepare for a Job Interview

Research the role, prepare truthful interview stories, rehearse questions and organize logistics and follow-up in an application record.

Workflow

  1. Confirm the interview and research the role

Open the relevant application record. Confirm the employer, interviewer, date, time zone, format and expected assessment. Read the posting and employer materials, noting source dates and questions about the work. Check travel or remote-access arrangements and any needed accommodations.

  2. Prepare examples grounded in your own work

Choose experiences relevant to the role and outline the situation, task, your action and result. Keep enough detail to explain decisions, collaboration, tradeoffs and what you learned. Review your resume for consistency and identify facts you may need to confirm.

  3. Rehearse answers and employer questions

Practice aloud with a partner or on your own. Use a stopwatch for an observed rehearsal duration if useful, then revise unclear answers. Prepare questions about responsibilities, support, assessment and working arrangements. Record feedback rather than assigning an invented interview score.

  4. Record outcomes and a specific next action

After the interview, record what was discussed, any commitments and remaining questions. If you choose to send a thank-you or follow-up, tailor it to the conversation and agreed process. Update the next action date and review any actual offer using its written terms.
