Spray Paint Calculator

Estimate aerosol purchases separately for primer, color and clear products. Review exact can coverage, per-coat or finished-system basis, stock, sale packs and optional prices.

Use this result well

Inputs that matter
Independent aerosol products, per-coat versus finished-system coverage, matching whole cans, sale packs and optional prices
Output to expect
Source-specific quantity endpoints, actual whole-package purchases, unknown-versus-zero prices and complete source JSON
How it works
Compute each product demand at its source coverage basis, then round independently to its supplier sale pack
  • Source changes invalidate dependent values; invalid inputs never leave stale outputs available to export. Other tools and saved Projects stay separate.
  • Review current label/TDS/SDS and physical conditions. No universal coverage, coat, loss, drying, preparation or application approval is inferred.

Choose your path

Built around the job you need to finish

Reconcile independent aerosol products using explicit coverage bases and separate sale packs.

Aerosol project owner

Keep primer, color and clear quantities separate.

Enter independent products and compare per-coat versus finished-system coverage.

Does not multiply a full-system coverage requirement twice.

Buyer using sale packs

Subtract only matching whole stock and see unknown prices.

Enter separate stock/pack counts, revise a quote, and inspect independent rounding.

Understands actual cans purchased and that incomplete pricing is not a total budget.

Narrow-screen reviewer

Find invalid coats or coverage without a stale result.

Open linked errors, correct the input and export the complete active-stage record.

Inactive stages are retained but not counted; source units survive display changes.

How it works

Identify the coverage basis

Coverage stated at a completed film thickness or system may already include multiple application passes. Review its source before choosing a basis; do not multiply the same requirement twice.

Per-coat demand = area × whole coats; finished-system demand = area

Use exact can evidence

Enter a product-specific range or equal endpoints. Coverage varies with product, package and conditions. Extra allowance must not duplicate losses already included in practical coverage.

Base can equivalents = demand ÷ product coverage per can

Round separate sale packs

Each product is rounded independently. Prices are per sale pack. Unlike primer, color and clear products cannot share stock; a missing price makes the combined cost incomplete.

Packs = ceil(max(0, base + allowance + reserve − usable whole stock) ÷ cans per pack)

Updated: August 2026

Example Scenarios

48 ft² × two coats ÷ 10–12 ft²/can gives 8–9.6 can equivalents. Zero extras/stock and one-can packs lead to 8–10 cans; these are illustrative inputs, not universal coverage.

If the reviewed 10–12 ft²/can source already describes the complete specified finish, 48 ft² gives 4–4.8 equivalents, not twice that amount. Confirm the source basis before selecting this mode.

For 4.8 required can equivalents, one usable whole can leaves 3.8. A two-can sale pack requires two packs, purchasing four new cans. Other products remain separate.

FAQ

No. Can fill weight alone does not determine practical coverage. Use the current exact product source and its film or coat basis.

No. Product compatibility and the complete approved system determine which stages are needed. The tool does not select products or authorize application.

No. This model counts only verified usable whole matching cans; it does not infer remaining usable coverage from can weight.

Reducing the active stage count excludes later rows while retaining their drafts. Other stages do not absorb their stock or quantities.

No. It is coating-only and incomplete if any active stage lacks a quote. Labor, preparation, tax and delivery are excluded.

About Spray Paint Calculator

Build up to four independent aerosol product stages. Each owns its measured surface, coverage basis and actual package quote. Review both demand endpoints without assuming that all cans cover the same area or that every spray pass is a full coat.
