Workflow

  1. Record how a representative week is used

Record work, commute, sleep, care, learning, personal activities and other tasks. Count each hour once, choosing a primary category for simultaneous activities. Separate observation from the schedule you would prefer, and note unusual events that make this week unrepresentative.

  2. Identify constraints and the change that matters

Review the observed week alongside responsibilities, energy and personal priorities. Identify what is fixed, negotiable or missing. Choose a concrete issue such as repeated late meetings, insufficient transition time or a care handoff, and define what a useful change would look like.

  3. Discuss boundaries and agree a limited trial

Describe the work or household issue and propose a specific arrangement with responsibilities, exceptions and a review date. Use appropriate employer leave or accommodation channels when relevant. Record what was accepted rather than assuming every schedule request must be granted.

  4. Review the trial using observed evidence

After a representative period, compare the new week with the baseline and ask whether the specific issue improved. Adjust the plan if responsibilities shifted or hidden tasks appeared. Seek appropriate support for persistent distress or health concerns instead of relying on a scheduling score.

Reference Materials

Leave eligibility needs its own checkStandard

DOL explains FMLA employer coverage, employee eligibility and qualifying reasons. A personal time budget does not determine leave rights.

Review the working setupStandard

OSHA workstation resources can support a review of actual computer-work conditions alongside the schedule.

Weekly allocation methodStandard

Seven days contain 168 hours. The worksheet sums mutually exclusive categories and shows the remaining hours or overallocation. No health-risk percentage or ideal allocation is calculated.

  • Keep the decision record

Retain the sources, date, open questions and next action with this plan. Update the record when the employer, schedule or assumptions change.

  • Save work you want to revisit

Resume and application workspaces save only when you choose Save in this browser. Download their JSON backups for recovery. The notepad saves one text document locally; download separate notes before replacing it.

Safety Notes

  • Use the applicable employer or local process for leave, accommodation or pay concerns.
  • Seek appropriate support for persistent distress or health problems.
