Workflow

  1. Define charging energy and the available window

    Review and record

    Record the vehicle’s AC acceptance, realistic battery energy to add, the hours available and any expected load-sharing limits. Compare a few documented EVSE current settings at the actual supply voltage using supported efficiency assumptions. Establish a practical charging requirement before assuming that the largest available setting is necessary.

  2. Review service capacity and panel space separately

    Review and record

    Have the installer assess the existing service and complete the applicable load calculation, including the proposed EV charging arrangement. Reconcile the approved demand values and leg loads, then check actual panel spaces and allowed breaker positions. If considering energy management, have its supported topology, controls and commissioning requirements designed explicitly.

  3. Coordinate the exact EVSE setting and circuit design

    Review and record

    Use the installation manual for the exact EVSE and choose a permitted configuration and actual breaker. For the ordinary continuous-load case, compare 125% of configured maximum AC input with that breaker and the independently verified protection ceiling. Review conductor material, cable type, terminal temperature, current-carrying conductors and any required protection or disconnects.

  4. Plan the actual route and complete installed cost

    Review and record

    Measure the intended cable/raceway route, equipment position, cable reach and access. Review impact protection, weather exposure and the model’s mounting instructions. Calculate voltage drop using actual conductor data, check ordinary conduit fill where applicable and compare full installed quotes including civil work, permits and inspection.

  5. Have the system installed and commissioned

    Review and record

    Use an authorized installer to complete the specified circuit, connections and required tests. Have the maximum circuit/current setting configured through the manufacturer’s commissioning process and record it. Verify any energy-management sensor configuration and behavior with the approved design, then retain permit and inspection outcomes.

  6. Compare real charging with the plan

    Review and record

    Record a representative session’s available hours, delivered energy and relevant conditions. Compare the observed result with the charging-window estimate and distinguish vehicle limits, taper, temperature and sharing from an installation fault. Keep settings, manuals, installer contacts and the saved cases for future changes.
